About the Ladders
St Chad’s Tennis Club currently runs a mixed (combined men’s and ladies’) singles ladder competition, open to all members at all ability levels. It provides an opportunity for competitive but fun play. For newer members, this is a great way to meet other players at the club.
The singles ladder works by ranking players in a table. You can challenge a player above you to a match. If you win, you will take your opponent’s place and your opponent will drop down one position. If you lose, you both remain where you are. Players should naturally reach a level in the ladder where they can play against opponents of a similar ability. The ladder rewards both winning and regular play. Players are free to choose how often they want to play.
Signing Up
You can sign up to join the singles ladder by installing the Slappy tennis ladder application on your Apple or Google mobile device. You will need the join code which new members can find in their welcome email or their membership summary. During registration you will be asked to provide contact details, which will be shared with other players to help arrange matches.
Initial placement is in order of registration. If you prefer to be moved lower down the ladder, please contact ladders@stchadstennis.net.

Rules
- Players can challenge up to three places above them. If a challenger wins, they will take their opponent’s place, with the opponent and all intermediate players shuffling down one position
- Matches should be played as best of three sets. The third set can be played as a championship tie break (to ten points with a two point difference) in lieu of a full third set by prior agreement between opponents.
- Players who do not record a match in any completed calendar month will automatically be demoted three places.
- Players who do not record a match in any subsequent consecutive calendar month will automatically be demoted ten places.
