Junior, age 8 and under (Red)
Weekly coaching for those in year 4 or below at school. Aimed at introducing and developing the fundamental skills in tennis using games and technical instruction to develop their game. This aligns with the LTA Youth Red programme (Junior Tennis Competition Age Groups | LTA) which uses low pressured, low bouncing balls which makes the development pathway more suitable and constructive. This age group play on a smaller, modified court (one quarter the size of a full court) so technique and control is the main focus.
Junior, age 9 and under (Orange)
For those in year 4 to year 5 at school with a focus on developing the fundamental skills learnt in red ball by using a higher pressured ball compared to red ball but still modified to maximise technique development. This aligns with the LTA Youth Orange programme (Junior Tennis Competition Age Groups | LTA) to ensure progress is maximised. This age group play on a modified court (around two thirds the size of a full size court).
Junior, age 10 and under (Green)
For those in year 5 to year 7 at school where players use a lower pressured ball compared to the adult yellow ball, but this age group play on a full size court in line with the LTA Youth Green programme (Junior Tennis Competition Age Groups | LTA). This age group focus on fine tuning core skills and addressing key misconceptions and are introduced to the tactical elements of the game before progressing to yellow ball.
Junior, ages 11 to 16 (Yellow)
For those in years 6 to 11. This age group play with the standard yellow ball in line with the LTA Youth Yellow Programme (Junior Tennis Competition Age Groups | LTA) where there is a continued focus on technique, tactics and matchplay with the aim of developing independence and mental resilience and utilising the core skills from previous age groups.
Adult Rusty Rackets and Improvers (age 16+)
A group session aimed at adults who are new to tennis, returning from tennis after an extended period out or those looking to develop some specific skills. These sessions are drill focused with a focus on technique, tactics, movement and matchplay. These sessions adopt a personalised approach where each player’s individual needs are catered for.

“Tennis was a pivotal part of my upbringing where I started my competitive tennis journey at 10 years old. I have competed in the county and university pathways and aim to continue my development as a player by competing in numerous tournaments around the country. Alongside my competitive background, I have 5 years of coaching experience and started out as an assistant coach at my home club at the age of 17. I also have a background in data, graphics and statistical analysis which has seen me work at Wimbledon as well as part time for Ellipse data on the ATP tour. I am privileged to lead the coaching programme at St Chad’s Tennis Club and aim to provide an inclusive community with a personalised coaching style to ensure everyone can maximise their tennis potential.”
